The Joint Publications Committee of the Political Communication sections of the American Political Science Association (APSA) and the International Communication Association (ICA) invites applications and nominations for the position of editor(s) of Political Communication. Appointment of the new editor(s) will be for three years – January 2027 to December 2029 – covering volumes 27-29, and is renewable once.

In this role, the editor(s) will involve continuous work with authors, reviewers, and the production team at Taylor & Francis to ensure the journal’s preeminence in the discipline. The editor(s) also will work with the Joint Publications Committee on policy matters and report regularly to the APSA and ICA divisions. The publisher provides robust financial support to the editor’s institution for journal-related expenses (e.g., an editorial assistant).

Each application packet, whether for one or multiple candidates, should include:

  • A letter of application;
  • A vision statement for the editorship;
  • A curriculum vitae for each candidate;
  • The name of two published scholars per candidate who can serve as a reference, speaking to their research as well as experience with and suitability for journal editing; and
  • A detailed letter of support from the institution that will house the journal.

Members of the Joint Publications Committee include Lindsay Hoffman, Dam Hee Kim, Patricia Moy, Kathleen Searles, Chris Fei Shen, Jiyoun Suk, and Sebastian Valenzuela. Ex-officio members include section heads TJ Billard (APSA) and Kate Kenski (ICA), current editor Regina Lawrence, and social-media director Isabella Gonçalves.

Complete application packets are due 31 December 2025 to Patricia Moy (pmoy@uw.edu). The editorial transition will take place 1 July 2026 to provide sufficient time for the new team to prepare for its first issue.
