Overview:

The Delhi School on Political Communication is a premier workshop designed to expand the scope of political communication scholarship, moving beyond the traditional focus on US and European perspectives. Our objective is to introduce participants to the forefront of political communication research, with a particular emphasis on contexts within non-Western settings. This workshop aims to engage early career scholars, postdoctoral fellow and graduate students offering them an exceptional opportunity to deepen their understanding of the field.

Workshop Goals:

  • To acquaint participants with the latest developments in political communication.
  • To encourage research that examines the role of media, including television, newspapers, and digital platforms, in democratic engagement, election campaigns, political participation, voting behavior, and political attitudes, particularly within the Global South.
  • To foster opportunities for cross-national comparative research involving countries in the European Union, North America, and South America.
  • Offer mentorship to junior scholars to submit their papers to the International Communication Association (ICA), annual conference which typically has a submission deadline of November 1.

Keynote Speakers:

We are honoured to feature distinguished scholars, including Daniel Kreiss (University of North Carolina). Additional keynote speakers will be announced shortly.

Call for Applications:

Early career researchers, postdoctoral fellow and graduate students who are based at universities or institutions within Asian countries are highly encouraged to apply. A limited number of stipends are available to support travel and accommodation for participants outside the Delhi-NCR region or from countries outside India. These stipends are competitive and aim to facilitate broader participation. Upon acceptance of your application, you will be required to submit a paper of 4,000 words by July 21, 2025. Participants will also receive mentorship from senior colleagues to guide them in preparing their paper for submission to the International Communication Association annual conference.
